Service Export Reporting Format (SERF) Format enhancement – Regulatory Update

SEZ Online has recently came up with its March, 2026 release, bringing new functionalities / features in reporting of exports in Service Export Reporting Format (SERF).

Earlier, the service export other than software export used to be reported under one head ‘Service Exports other than IT & IT Enabled Services’ which lacks transparency / clarity and created confusion

With this new update the service exports will be classified in three additional service categories as mentioned below:

  1. IFSC Service Exports Outside India
  2. Service Exports to Other IFSC / SEZ Units
  3. Service Exports by IFSC / SEZ Units to DTA Units

This is a welcome move by SEZ authorities as with this enhancement, the SERF framework now enables classification of service transactions based not only on the nature of services but also on the destination of such services.

This is expected to bring clarity and transparency while reporting and provide better visibility into intra-IFSC, inter-SEZ, and domestic service linkages.

Note: While the New format macro has been enabled, the Old macro will continue for temporary period for a smooth transition

Takeaway: Consultants / Entities in IFSCA / SEZ must align their data with new reporting requirements to avoid difficulties
