Important Update in Charity Accounts Submissions

Circular No. – 826 Date 05.10.2026

Subject: Regarding online submission of Statement of Accounts (Audit Reports) under Section 34 of the Maharashtra Public Trusts Act, 1950.
Reference: Circular No. 504/2017 Dt. 22.06.2017.

As per the above-referenced circular, it has been made mandatory for trusts to file their audit reports through online mode. User-Ids have also been provided to the trusts that file online audit reports.

After submitting the audit reports online, the practice (Practice) of submitting the acknowledgement receipt of the audit report to the concerned district-level office is being followed. In reality, no instructions have been issued through the said circular or any other circular to physically submit the acknowledgement receipt of the audit report to the concerned district office. Despite filing audit reports online, complaints are being received at the Charity Commissioner’s office that trusts are being harassed a lot due to the practice of physically submitting the acknowledgement receipt.

Therefore, all trusts and trustees of trusts, Chartered Accountants and Auditors are hereby informed that, after filing online audit reports, the requirement of physically submitting its acknowledgement receipt to the concerned office is being stopped with immediate effect from this year onwards. Officers or employees in the office of the Charity Commissioner should not insist on or demand from any trust to physically submit the acknowledgement receipt of the online audit report. All concerned should take note of this and comply.
