On July 20, 2026, the state government published the Indian Partnership (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 2026. Essentially, they have completely overhauled the old rules from the 1932 Act to make registering a partnership firm a completely online process.
New Changes as per the Amendment:
No need of physical forms now. Under the updated Section 58, you will now register your firm by filling out an online application on the official website and paying your registration fees digitally. You will also need to upload a true copy of your partnership deed to the portal.
Along with the usual details—like your firm’s name, what kind of business you are doing, and where you are located—you now have to provide a PAN Number and an email address for the business itself.
A list of full names, permanent addresses, mobile numbers, and personal email addresses of every single partner also needs to be provided.
The new rules state that the application statement must be digitally signed by all the partners (or by an agent you have specially authorized to do it for you). Once that is done, you just verify the information online and upload whatever extra enclosures are needed.
The Registrar is now legally required to process these registrations “digitally”. And if you ever lose your documents or need a copy of your records down the road, the amended Section 67 means you will be able to request and receive those copies either online or offline.
When does this start?
While the law has been officially published, an official launch date and Official Gazette are awaited.
